Kota Kinabalu

 

Upon arrival (Around 1pm) at Kota Kinabalu Airport, pick up & transfer to Kinabalu National Park, Malaysia’s Natural Heritage site. Journey will take approximately 2 hours passing by villages, paddy fields along mountainous roads that wind along the Crocker range. A brief stopover at Nabalu, a collection of native stalls selling fruits, vegetables, local produces and handicrafts, and at the same time you can observe the local tribe’s stall activities. Enjoy the cool and refreshing mountain air, if day is clear you may see a majestic view of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia. Proceed for a guided walk along the nature trails with the park naturalist. While walking, listen to the sounds of the jungle and observe nature’s plants, tree, orchids and butterflies. Kinabalu Park boasts an estimated 4,500 species of plants which includes 1,500 species of orchids, 77 of which are endemic to Kinabalu. The park also supports 289 species of birds and 290 different

types of butterflies. Transfer to Mesilau Nature Resort to check in accommodation.

 

After breakfast, gather at Mesilau Sabah Park to meet your mountain guide and proceed to the starting point of your mountain trekking. Along this trek, you will notice the change of vegetation from Oak to Chestnut to Mossy Forest, and eventually to Alpine vegetation when you finally reach Laban Rata Rest House at 3,272m above sea level. Views along the trail are spectacular and an amazing array of flora can encountered, including various species of insect-eating pitcher plants, superb orchids, and perhaps even the world’s largest flower – “Rafflesia”. However, these flowers only bloom occasionally and for a short period of time. Dinner will be having at Laban Rata Rest House and rest well and get ready for the final ascent to Low’s Peak early morning at about 2am next day.

 

Day 03 Laban Rata – Low’s Peak – Kinabalu Park – Poring Hot Spring (S / B / L / SD)

Wake up at about 2am and trek to Low’s Peak in the dark (head torches with new batteries are strongly recommended), and with the high attitude, weather can be as cold as 1 degree Celsius, so warm clothing are needed here. This final ascent takes about 2 – 3 hours and the main aim is to be at the highest peak before sunrise. However, if you succeed in climbing the summit at Low’s Peak, a great sense of achievement will fills you (As this sector of the trek is very challenging, the summit climb is optional and those who choose not to climb can remain at Laban Rata Rest House). After savoring this once in a lifetime experience, starts returning to Laban Rata Rest House for breakfast, after breakfast, continue trek back to Kinabalu National Park HQ for lunch. After lunch, proceed to Poring Hot Spring located approximately 47 km from Kinabalu Park. Poring Hot Spring, named after the tall bamboo plant that is abundant in that area, is a natural spring where hot sulfurous water emit from the ground. There are Japanese Baths where visitors can soak themselves and let the invigorating sulfurous water stimulate the body. Visitors can also try the canopy walkway (at own expenses), where suspension bridges are suspended at the top of the canopy for visitors to walk along the canopy of a tropical jungle.

0800hrs breakfast;

0900hrs check out and proceed to jetty in downtown Kota Kinabalu. On arrival at jetty, board a 20 minute ride boat to the beautiful Manukan Island. Upon arrival at Manukan Island, check in accommodation and sumptuous BBQ lunch will be served by the beach. After lunch, free to swim or snorkel or just laze around the beach soaking the tropical sun. There are also trails for short nature walk. Other optional activities on this island are Banana Boat Rides, Para Sailing, Fly Fish, Jet Ski and etc. Set dinner will be served at the beach.

 

After breakfast, free at own leisure till Burger Set Lunch and transfer back to Kota Kinabalu Town. Upon arrival at jetty in Downtown Kota Kinabalu, check in accommodation and free at own leisure.

schedule flight back to Singapore ~ Home sweet home!
